Reference Guide to Complete the City Registration form

Settle In Munich

Updated: May 30, 2024

Munich is a vibrant and beautiful city located in the southern region of Germany. It is known for its stunning architecture, world-renowned museums, and bustling nightlife. If you are planning to move to Munich or already moved, one of the first things you will need to do is register with the city. This process is known as "Anmeldung" in German and is mandatory for all residents, regardless of whether you are a German citizen or a foreigner. Once complete, you will be issued a registration certificate, which is an important document that you may need for various administrative purposes.

We have written a guide “Settle in Munich – A Guide to City Registration” on how to complete the city registration. In this blog, we will discuss how to fill up the form for the city registration.

You can download the form from the website: Munich City Website or can directly click on the link to download the form: Registration form. However, we suggest downloading it from the Munich City Website as the form might be outdated.

Once you have downloaded the form, you can see that this form is in English and German. It is easier to fill the English version of the form and its quite straightforward.

Page 1 – We can ignore this page as this page is required to be filled if you have a relocator or agent who will do the city registration on your behalf. Since we are doing it on our own, we can leave this page blank (and ignore while printing the form).

Page 2 – From this page, you need to provide your information. I will try to provide as much information as possible for this page. (Hint: You need to fill the fields marked in sky or light blue).

The form is broken down into 4 screenshots in order to explain the fields in a better way. Follow the details provided in the screenshot to complete the form.

Page 3 & 4 – These pages provide more guidance and reference about the different fields. In case of confusion or doubt, always refer to these pages for help and guidance. You can reach out to us as well if you need more support.

Page 5 & 6 – It’s the same form but in German language. If you are comfortable with German, you can use this form as well.

We hope you find it informative and helpful as you embark on this exciting new chapter in your life in one of Germany's most dynamic and exciting cities.

Please refer to the official website of City of Munich for updated information.
